32 Days Until... and Sweaty Bands.

I usually don’t win things. Giveaways, contests, anything. I’m just not that lucky. Well, that is until recently…

Holly at Rust Belt Runner did a recent giveaway for Sweaty Bands – cute workout headbands. And I won! I got two of them in the mail last week and tried them out on my runs this weekend. I really like them. Comfortable, stayed on my head (which I was worried about) and kept the sweat out of my eyes. Oh, and they’re cute! Thanks again, Holly!

One of the Sweaty Bands!

Speaking of runs, I am in the midst of training for a marathon relay. This newbie runner is a little nervous about my 5.2 miles. I know I can do it because I ran 5.4 for the first time this past Friday. I also know I’ll be able to keep on going because I’ll be inspired by all the marathoners around me (I mean, wow!). I’m mostly nervous about my time. I don't want to let my teammates down!

I have been running or at the gym every day, getting ready and trying to increase my endurance. I’m really seeing and feeling the results, but boy, am I tired.

32 days until the relay! Think I can shave off 25 minutes from my time by then? Yeah, not likely. ;)

Two questions on this post! What is something you are “training” for? And athletes, how do you increase your endurance?

  1. Congrats on winning!!! I llooovvveee Sweaty Bands! I wear them running and just around the house. They look super cute and keep my hair back! LOVE THEM!

I'd really like to be able to do a 10K or be a part of a relay team like you're doing. I think thats what I'll be training for next.

Last week I ran a 5K in the KC Marathon and had my best time ever and never had to stop and walk (first time running the entire thing for me!). Yipee!!!

    Love you Rach! -Sarah

  3. Congratulations on the win! They look adorable:)

Hmmm...well- I am training for a half marathon and an Olympic distance triathlon next summer. So- endurance-wise I just keep adding on a bit more every day. BUT- I have all winter to do this, so not sure what I would do in a short time. A lot of sprint training for sure:))

Happy training...and I wouldn't worry about letting them down. You are DOING it! THAT is enough in itself!!!!
Good luck- can't wait to hear how it goes:))

  4. Congrats on the win! I need to find some of these and try them out. I always sweat and it get's in my eyes!

You will do great for the relay and won't let you team down. When you are running, just think of the people on the side of the road and that might inspire you! Your out there doing much more than most people and your right, the excitement of the marathon will also push you through!! Proud of you for getting out there and doing it:)

I'll see you at the run!! Good luck:)

  5. @Sarah, congrats on making it through the 5K without stopping! Woohoo! I have my next one next Saturday - the same day as your honey bee one! ;) You can totally do a 10K. I haven't done longer than 5.4 but I have until March to be totally comfortable with it. I heard once you can do about 8 miles, you can just keep going and do a half. P.S. my dash is working again, thanks!

@Dawn, aw, thanks! I need to try sprint training. I'm also trying to lengthen my stride and go just a little faster during my runs. That's so awesome about your half and an Olympic tri? WOW! Go you!

@Beth, you are so awesome. I am still in awe of you that you ran a marathon. You're such a pro! I definitely recommend Sweaty Bands! Thanks for your support!
